In the first quarter of 2020, during the early months of the pandemic, some of the team moved out of Hong Kong and back to their respective countries. Others resigned to pursue other goals and a few remained.
QoinPro had no business-model to speak of (wallets typically don't) so when business decreased overall, it was necessary to down-size the team further resulting in an unfortunate but significant loss of productivity and backlog in support enquiries.
Lesson learned: Have a business model in place for a project that does not depend on other business.
Because QoinPro can reach millions of people and there was an increasing threat from the pandemic, in the second half of 2020 an attempt was made to create a knowledge sharing platform regarding the consequences of the Corona Virus.
This knowledge sharing platform served as the front and main website of QoinPro with the wallets being accessible through a top-menu.
Although hundreds of people volunteered to add, manage and curate content, and there was a lot of interest from users, managing and standardizing the content (and the contributors) proofed too time-consuming. The effort was ultimately discontinued in the first quarter of 2021 and the decision was made for QoinPro to go back to its basics.
Lesson learned: Maintain focus
